South Wales Fire and Rescue Service has a statutory duty to provide an emergency Fire and Rescue provision to the communities of South Wales. The Auxiliary Reserve provides this emergency cover during periods where there is a significant reduction in staff; this can be in circumstances such as flu pandemic and industrial action.
The Service has a statutory duty to provide an emergency fire and rescue provision to the communities of South Wales. Our Business Continuity Management (BCM) plans take account of occasions when the Service has the potential to see a significant reduction in staff, such as flu pandemic and industrial action. Our current plans have led to the creation of the Auxiliary Reserve who provide this resilience.
The salary for a “Resilience Contract” will range between £2,000 and £3,250, depending on skill sets and includes a non-strike clause. This contract also includes a commitment to be involved in the Auxiliary Reserve quarterly training and annual exercises.
