The Festival of Rescue Returns

The Festival of Rescue returned over the weekend (17th and 18th September) and after a challenging two days our South Wales Fire and Rescue Teams have returned with an outstanding result.

The event saw 300 competitors from 25 UK Fire and Rescue Services showcase their lifesaving skills in and around the River Tyne. The 67 entered teams battled it out across five key disciplines – going head-to-head, to be crowned the very best in their field.

The five disciplines included:

  • Vehicle Extrication
  • Trauma Care
  • Urban Search and Rescue
  • Rope Rescue
  • Water Rescue

Extrication Challenge

1st Place – South Wales FRS (Bridgend) Best Overall Team

1st Place – South Wales FRS (Bridgend) Best Incident Commander (Roger Magan)

3rd Place – South Wales FRS (Bridgend) Best Medical Team (Leslie Evans & Rob Buckley)

 

Heavy Rescue Challenge

3rd Place – Suffolk FRS & South Wales FRS (Porthcawl)

 

Rope Rescue Challenge

1st Place – South Wales FRS Best Overall Team

1st Place – South Wales FRS Best Incident Commander (Emma Atcherley)

1st Place – South Wales FRS Best Medical Team (Paul Turner)

1st Place – South Wales FRS Best Technical

 

Trauma Challenge

2nd Place – South Wales FRS Best Overall Team (Nathan Moyle & Rob Buckley)
