Neigh-d a hand, Herbi?

Last week (27 October 2022), crews from Abergavenny and Merthyr Tydfil Stations attended the scene of a large animal rescue at Pitt Farm Cottage in Llanarth.

After ‘horsing’ around early on Thursday morning, Herbi, the 17’2 hand, 26-year-old horse, found himself stuck in a ditch and unable to giddy on up again.

Herbi was quickly spotted, and a call was made on his behalf to the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service asking for assistance.

Crews located Herbi using a What 3 Words location and worked alongside a vet at the scene to safely free him from the ditch. Herbi was then left in the care of his owners after confirming there were no health concerns and no evidence of ‘foal’ play.
