Listening, Learning, Improving: SWFRS Launches ‘You Said, We Did’ Hub for Staff Feedback

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service (SWFRS) has launched a new internal ‘You Said, We Did’ hub, marking the next step in an ongoing commitment to listening to staff and acting on their feedback.

The hub follows the Hydra 10K Volts event held in summer 2023, where staff from across the Service were invited to share their thoughts on workplace culture, wellbeing, and what matters most to them in their day-to-day roles. The session provided valuable insight and opened up honest conversations about how the Service can continue to improve.

In response, SWFRS has created an online space where staff can access updates on how their feedback is being addressed. Key themes raised during the Hydra session have been summarised and published, with clear outlines of what action is being taken now, and what is planned for the future.

This is part of a broader effort by the Service to foster a supportive, inclusive and continually improving workplace. While not all concerns can be resolved immediately, the new hub ensures progress is shared openly and transparently.

The initiative is designed to evolve over time. The Service plans to build on the work started at the Hydra event by encouraging feedback through other internal channels, including the ‘Have Your Say’ email and the ‘Shout’ forum, allowing for regular two-way communication with staff.

By launching the ‘You Said, We Did’ hub, SWFRS is demonstrating its commitment to turning listening into action—and to creating a culture where every member of the Service can contribute to positive, lasting change.
