Fire Authority

Since April 1996, South Wales Fire and Rescue Authority has been responsible for providing the Fire and Rescue Service for the geographical area of South Wales.

The Fire and Rescue Authority consists of 24 members, representing 10 of the Unitary Authorities of South Wales.

The core functions of the Fire and Rescue Authority are set out in the Fire and Rescue Services Act 2004.

 

The Executive Leadership Team (ELT)

The ELT comprises of:

 

Huw Jakeway QFSM – Chief Fire Officer (CFO)

As CFO, Huw is responsible for the strategic leadership of all staff and overall co-ordination of the Fire and Rescue Service.

 

Dewi Rose – Temporary Deputy Chief Fire Officer (T/DCFO) – Director of Service Delivery

Dewi is responsible for the following departments:

  • Operations
  • Risk Reduction
  • Fire Control

 

Richie Prendergast – Assistant Chief Fire Officer (ACFO) – Director of Technical Services

Richie is responsible for the following departments:

  • Fleet and Engineering
  • Operational Risk Management
  • ICT

 

Geraint Thomas – Assistant Chief Officer (ACO) – Director of Corporate Services

Geraint is responsible for the following departments:

  • Media and Communications
  • Performance Planning
  • Information Governance
  • Property
  • Business Support
  • Finance and Procurement

 

Alison Reed – Assistant Chief Officer (ACO) – Director of People Services

Alison is responsible for the following departments:

  • Human Resources
  • Occupational Health
  • Welsh Language
  • Equality and Diversity

 

Chris Barton – Treasurer

Chris is the responsible Finance Officer for the Fire and Rescue Authority.
