White Ribbon Day 2022 - South Wales Fire and Rescue Service

White Ribbon Day takes place on Friday 25^th November, which coincides with the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

This year’s sixteen days of activism following White Ribbon Day run until the 9th December, alongside much of the FIFA men’s World Cup. At White Ribbon, they encourage everyone, especially men and boys, to make the White Ribbon Promise to never use, excuse or remain silent about men’s violence against women.

All men can join the team to end violence against women and girls – that’s #TheGoal.

This year, White Ribbon have identified 11 traits, one for each player on a football team, which each of us can strive to incorporate into our daily lives in support of women and girls. The 11 traits are:

What will we be doing?

We will demonstrate our longstanding support for the campaign through showcasing the White Ribbon symbol on our fleet, the Safe Havens initiative and in making the pledge.
We at South Wales Fire and Rescue Service will be kicking off our campaign with a lunch and learn session for our colleagues, to hear from Broadcaster Ruth Dodsworth, on her personal experience of domestic abuse.
On White Ribbon Day, Friday 25 November, there will be a charity football match between the Fire Service and South Wales Police, organised in conjunction with Assia Domestic Abuse Service, in support of White Ribbon.
Over the duration of the campaign, we will be highlighting each of the 11 traits with our newest Wholetime Firefighters.

How we can help

All of South Wales Fire and Rescue Service stations operate as ‘Safe Havens’ This means people who feel vulnerable and in imminent danger, due to stalkers, domestic abuse or any other threat – can go to one of our Stations for help and support.
