South Wales Fire and Rescue Service employees take on Open Water Swim Challenge

This September, a group of South Wales Fire and Rescue Service (SWFRS) employees will be taking part in a challenging open water swim to fundraise for The Fire Fighters Charity.

The swim will take place on the 16th of September, where the swimmers will tackle 15 miles starting in Weston -super-mare and finishing in Barry Island.

The biggest challenge for the swimmers will be the weather and wave strength, which could actually increase the swimming distance due to the push back.

Despite this, our swimmers are excited to be taking part in the challenge! September will be here before we know it, and they’re taking their training seriously and keeping health and safety at the forefront of their planning.

As well as testing their fitness and endurance, the swimmers are also excited to be representing SWFRS and fundraising on behalf of The Fire Fighters Charity, who support the mental, physical and social needs of all serving and retired members of the UK’s Fire Family.
