Arson Reduction Unit - Uned Lleihau Llosgi Bwriadol

Arson Reduction Unit

The Arson Reduction Unit (ARU) was set up in 2002, to address the burgeoning number of deliberately started fires in South Wales.

Since its establishment, there has been a significant reduction in the number of arson-related fires in the area, thanks to a variety of successful initiatives developed by the ARU.

These include:

  • Arson Vulnerability Assessments
  • Arson Awareness Training to Head Teachers and Caretakers
  • Arson Reduction Rap
  • Fire Watch
  • Impact Roadshow
  • Operation Cubit
  • Splash
  • Abandoned Vehicle Seminars
  • At Risk From Fire initiative
  • LPG Cylinder Recovery and Disposal Scheme
  • Coleg Gwent Initiative
  • Matrix Youth Training Initiative
  • Dragon Programme
  • HomeSafe Project
  • ReStart
