Vehicle Crime Awareness

Vehicle Crime Awareness DaysVehicle Crime Awareness Days exist to get an invited audience of young offenders who have already been involved in vehicle crimes, to think about the consequences of their actions, for themselves and others should they commit vehicle-related crimes.

Evidence from Awareness days over the past few years shows that they are a highly effective way of getting young offenders to really consider the impact of their actions. The South Wales Fire and Rescue Service works with the Police, Youth Offending Teams, the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust, the Prison Service and Victim Support to deliver these initiatives, which take place at Fire Stations across South Wales. Youth Offending Teams identify young offenders who have previously been involved in vehicle related crime and who might benefit from greater awareness of the consequences of their actions.

The events cover a wide range of activities including a full reconstruction of a traffic accident (involving all emergency services), as well as talks and demonstrations from all agencies involved.
