Introduction

98% of all road traffic collisions are attributed to human error. The next statistic could be you! Its your choice on the road!  Road Traffic Collisions (RTC’s) have become more frequent than house fires, and sadly cause more deaths. In 2009, the number of people killed or seriously injured (KSI) on welsh roads was 7126.

It is therefore a major priority for the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service to highlight the dangers that exist for the public travelling on South Wales roads, and raise awareness of the simple measures they can take to ensure they, their passengers and other road users remain safe.

  •  Many of those killed on Welsh roads are younger drivers.
  •  Road Traffic Collisions are the biggest killer of people between 17 and 25.

Young drivers in Wales account for a third of all road traffic fatalities and one fifth of newly qualified drivers have had a collision within the first 12 months of passing their test.

Remember, it is better to be 5 minutes late in this life than it is to be 50 years early in the next!
