DOPRA

DopraA touch screen visual display unit that integrates information technology with communications, radio and mobilisation data.

BT EISEC

This Enhanced Information System for Emergency Calls enables the emergency caller’s details (name, address, telephone number) to be displayed on the DOPRA screen. This assists the Control Operator by identifying the location of caller - potentially reducing call-handling time - and helping with call challenge initiatives.

EISEC interacts with the VISION mobilising system allowing the Operator to chose the caller's address as the location for the incident. The system will match up the address of the caller to an address held in the Vision database, displaying the address on the electronic map with one mouse click.

If a person calls from a mobile phone EISEC triangulates the position of the caller using mobile phone cells. This information is passed to Fire Control electronically as a 12 figure map reference. Vision collects this information and displays a split map of the possible location of the caller. A percentage of accuracy is also displayed for the operator to determine the location of the caller.

VISION

visionThe Vision mobilising system is unique in Wales. Vision combines multi -level mapping technology with a premises gazetteer and vehicle tracking (AVLS - automatic vehicle location system).

Vision allows an operator to find your address using your postcode and display your property on the map.

Vision allows operators to relay vital information to mobile data terminals in the front cab of fire engines. Once an address is located on the maps in Vision, the details are sent to the appliance MDT (mobile data terminal) the fire appliance uses the electronic maps on their MDT to find the best route to the incident. As the fire appliance moves the map on the MDT moves displaying the route as the appliance travels closer to the incident.

This combination of technology means that operators and fire fighters are provided with instant information that will help them make decisions and take action quickly and efficiently, ensuring that the public get the fastest response to an incident. Vision identifies the nearest appliance to attend, shaving minutes off response times and ultimately saving lives.

Through its ability to track and pinpoint the location of fire appliances, operators have a clear picture of operational activity and demand across South Wales Fire and Rescue Service's area.

Vision combined with EISEC pinpoints the location of mobile callers to within 100 metres. Vision also tracks telephone numbers. helping operators identify persistent hoax callers. The mapping technology combines with EISEC to identifying the location of the caller and displays this information to the operator, who can view the location of the caller and the location of an incident on a split map screen whilst handling an emergency call.
