Firefighters will be meeting up with Wales’ Rugby League high-flyers, the Celtic Crusaders on Tuesday night, ahead of the Out of the Blue event that the club is involved in on Saturday. Rugby players and representatives from the Crusaders will be attending South Wales Fire and Rescue Service’s Out of the Blue event on Saturday 12th July at Bute Park. Out of the Blue is the Emergency Services and Community Safety event free to all the public on the Saturday and thousands of school children on Friday (not open to public). The Celtic Crusaders will be taking part in the programme of Sports Master Classes being provided to encourage people to enjoy sport as part of their everyday lives. Physical Training Advisor for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Idris Evans has co-ordinated the ‘Master Classes’ for both the Schools day (Friday 11th) and the public day (Saturday 12th) which will include presentations from the Crusaders, Cardiff City Football Club, Cardiff Blues and the Welsh Netball Team. Community Safety Officer Katie Davies and Fire Investigation Officer Matt Jones and his fire investigation dog will be teaming up with the Celtic Crusaders on Tuesday evening to get a taste of professional rugby league training before the event.
Head of Community Safety, Martin Henderson said, “We’re delighted to have Wales’ top level rugby league club involved in this event. The day is all about involving the public in exciting and interactive displays and we’re sure the Sports Master Classes will be one of the favourite attractions!” Celtic Crusaders’ Community Development Officer Matt Pritchard said: “I am very pleased that South Wales Fire and Rescue have requested Celtic Crusaders’ attendance at this event which looks like a great family day out. “It’s exciting to see teachers, children, coaches and parents noticing the benefits of Rugby League and how this opens up even more opportunities for children to compete and enjoy playing sport.” Further information on Out of the Blue can be found on: www.outoftheblue.uk.net
