Beko Frost Free Fridge Freezers - safety notice

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service is supporting London Fire Brigade's call that is urging people to check if they own one of the models of BEKO frost free fridge freezers which are subject to a safety warning.

Huw Jakeway, Deputy Chief Fire Officer, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said;

“It has come to our attention that in a very small number of incidents, the defrost timer on a certain production range of BEKO frost free refrigeration can fail and overheat. The models affected are listed on our website and Beko website. As a responsible manufacturer, they are seeking to contact owners of these products to carry out a free of charge modification to the defrost timer.

Chris Hadfield, Station Manager Fire Safety, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service has advice of what members of the public need to do if they own one of these products;

“Persons owning a Beko fridge freezer should check the model number and serial number of their fridge freezer. The serial number is on the rating plate and is 10 or 12 digits long located inside the fridge compartment”.

“If you own an affected product, or if you are unsure if your product is affected, call Beko free phone number 0800 009 4837 between 8.00am and 6.00pm Monday to Friday. They will arrange to visit your home and make the modification to the product at no charge to you”.

Further advice can be found on Beko’s website www.beko.co.uk  where you can check if your product is affected by entering the model and serial number.
