Customer Care Standards 

The South Wales Fire and Rescue Service are committed to providing an efficient, as well as cost effective, Fire, Rescue and Fire Safety Service, to the people of South Wales.

It is committed to reducing the number of preventable deaths and injuries from fires, and the number of preventable fires in buildings, other property, and the countryside.

Members of the Public are welcome to correspond with us through the medium of Welsh or English, and any written correspondence received will be answered in the language in which it was received.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service will:-

  • Respond to all calls for help where people require a fire-fighting or rescue service within set times (see below)
  • Provide advice on Fire Safety issues.
  • Provide information on Fire Safety to the communities of South Wales by means of bilingual leaflets, lectures, and other appropriate means.
  • Ensure the Service is familiar with special and high life risks within the Service area, and plan for major incidence.
  • Provide specialist rescue equipment, and the necessary training of personnel.
  • Ensure the high standards of professionalism are maintained by the continuation training required to meet changing needs.
  • Employ new technology where possible to mobilise the correct response to incidents in the Service area, and also maintain records of our performance.
  • Promote and support initiatives aimed at reducing fires, fatalities and injuries which involve members of the public in their communities.
