During March and April of 2010 there will be lots of fun and exciting activities for the young people of Tonypandy to take part in including abseiling, bushcraft and graffiti workshops. The aim of these activities is to engage and educate the young people of Tonypandy on the dangers and consequences of grass fire and reduce the number grass fires being deliberately set.

We would like to invite the pupils of Tonypandy Community College to design a logo or slogan that will become the ‘umbrella brand’ of the project and will be used on all project materials and communications including website, leaflets, newspapers, bus stops and billboards – making it highly visible throughout Tonypandy.

Information for teachers

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service is working towards building more positive and stronger partnerships across South Wales. In Tonypandy, one aim of this partnership work is to create a safer community through the reduction of deliberate grass and mountain fires, which put lives at risk and cost the taxpayer and the economy millions of pounds every year.

One major way we hope to achieve this is by delivering a ‘deliberate grass fire reduction project’ in Tonypandy which will include running various diversionary and engagement activities with the young people in Tonypandy during March and April 2010.

We would like to invite the pupils of Tonypandy Community College to design a logo or slogan that will become the ‘umbrella brand’ of the project and will be used on all project materials and communications including website, leaflets, newspapers, bus stops and billboards – making it highly visible throughout Tonypandy.

The logo/slogan will create awareness of the project and will become a constant reminder of what the Service and the project are trying to achieve:

  • reduce the risk of grass and mountain fires spreading to properties and putting lives in danger
  • save the taxpayer and the economy millions of pound
  • make Tonypandy a more inviting place for new businesses
  • improve the landscape of Tonypandy

We are looking for a logo or slogan that is short, snappy and eye catching.

An example of such a slogan is ‘Pain in the Grass’, which is short, snappy and tells the person exactly what we are trying to achieve. An example of a logo is the SUB21 logo that was used in a campaign to reduce underage drinking.
