Porthcawl Station is a coastal station covering an area of approximately 1800 hectares. We liaise with the coastguard services and the RNLI, both in operational aspects and socially. Porthcawl serves a diverse range of businesses and residential areas including numerous homes for the elderly, hotels, guest houses and one of the largest caravan parks in Europe – Trecco Bay.
Within the community, the station provides guidance for children through fire safety inspections at local schools (SAVA) and also raising fire safety awareness through key stage one and two talks. Community fire safety visits are also available to local residents, organisations and businesses.
Porthcawl Station has 15 uniformed staff, comprising of a Station Commander, three leading Firefighters and 11 qualified Firefighters on the retained duty system, one Administrative Assistant and a Domestic Engineer. The retained duty system is a very cost effective method of providing a Fire and Rescue Service within the community.
