Ferndale Fire and Rescue Station 


Ferndale Fire Station serves the communities of Tylorstown, Maerdy, Pontygwaith, Wattstown, Stanleytown and Penrhys. The estimated population of the Station area is 10,000 people.

Ferndale Fire Station serves a diverse range of light and heavy industries. Business and residential areas, seven homes for the elderly, a nursing home for severely disabled, a major roadway construction and chemical factories are all within its area.

Ferndale Fire Station was officially opened on 1st November 1976.

Ferndale Fire Station has a road traffic collision extrication team who have trained to a high standard and have been placed 19th in the world out of 52 teams in Prague in 2003 and 13th in the world Ottowa in Canada in 2004 out of 55 teams. The team have just competed (June 2006) in the Welsh regional and inter-station competition and were placed 3rd out of 9 teams.
