Ely Fire Station

Ely Fire Station

Ely Community Fire Station serves the main residential areas of Ely, Cardiff and the surrounding areas of Llandaff North, Canton, Fairwater, Pentrebane and St Fagans.  There are approximately 29,700 domestic properties covering a geographical area of some 5,551 hectares. The estimated population of this area is around 69,000 people.

Ely Community Fire Station joins the ‘Jasmine’ community centre, which offers employment advice and other council services to members of the community. The centre also has an Arson Reduction Team, which is temporarily based at the Station.

As well as residential property, Ely Community Fire Station also serves a number of hospitals, schools, halls of residence and a large amount of light industrial areas. Others include the Museum of Welsh Life at St Fagans, the shopping centres at Culverhouse Cross and the ITV Wales studios.

With the completion of the Jasmine centre and the deployment of an emergency duty ambulance which is on standby in the appliance room, the Station is well placed to integrate itself into the heart of the local community.

Your local FireFighters from Ely Community Fire Station responded to over 1295 calls in the year of April 2006 - April 2007, ranging from, Road Traffic Collisions, vehicle fires, to domestic property fires.  The dedication of your local crews ensured all incidents where dealt with professionally at all times.  In-addition to responding to calls, your local fire fighters visited 634 homes where free smoke alarms were fitted and advice given to all members of our community.  Your Fire Fighters visited 35 schools in the community educating our children to the dangers of fire.  The tremendous effort of the fire fighters has ensured a steady decline in accidental domestic property fires from 48 in 2005 to 39 in 2006, and crews will work with our communities to ensure everyone has equal access to our free education and smoke alarms service, to ensure this downward trend continues and all people in our communities are safe from fire.
