Overview

Cowbridge Fire Station serves the market town of Cowbridge and many surrounding villages including Llanblethian, Colwinston, St Mary Church, Llandow, Aberthin and St Hilary. The estimated population of the Station area is 8,000 people.

Much of the approximate 34 square miles covered by Cowbridge Fire Station is dedicated to rural farmland, as well as a large light industrial estate on the former airfield at Llandow and the very busy A48 by-pass.

History

Station opened 9th May 1960 as ‘nucleus manned’, became Wholetime in June 1975 and became Day Crewed in May 1993 and changed to RDS Retained Duty System on March 28th 2014.
