Built in 1978, Barry Fire Station serves the Vale of Glamorgan area that borders St Athan, Wenvoe, Cowbridge and Cardiff. The estimated population of this area is 48,000.
Barry is largely residential boasting a busy town centre and seafront area as well as Cardiff International Airport, several large chemical plants and a power station.
During 2007 within the Barry / Rhoose area, your Fire crews attended over 900 emergency calls. These incidents included house and commercial property fires, road traffic collisions and flooding.
The staff at Barry fire station are dedicated to their primary task of making our community a safer place to live and work. In addition to ensuring that all incidents are dealt with in a sensitive and professional manner, we are active in working to prevent the occurrence of fires in the community and as such we offer a free home fire safety check to all citizens including the provision and fitting of smoke detectors
We are also collaborating with our partners from the local authorities, ambulance service and police in working to reduce the number of deaths and injuries on our roads. Barry fire crews have visited every school in our area at least once this year in order to educate our children as to the dangers from fire in their early years through to secondary level.
