The Bernie Project is a partnerships approach to reduce the number of deliberate grass fires in the Tonypandy fire station area over the Easter Holiday period

Deliberate Grass fires have financial implications on the organisation and local communities. They are notoriously difficult to tackle and every year stretches the Fire Service’s resources to their limitations. This in itself could result in disaster when the local community needs an appliance to attend a house fire, road traffic collision or similar incident.

The project will focus on 3 main areas

1.    Diversionary activities for young people during the Easter holidays

2.    High visibility patrols in the area

3.    High visibility media messages raising local community awareness
