RDS Firefighters respond to calls from their homes/places of work when they are alerted by a bleeper.

This stand-by cover is provided according to their primary employment or personal availability to respond.

There are 26 Retained Duty System (RDS) Fire Stations and nine Retained watches based at Wholetime Fire Stations.
