The aim of the Road Traffic Collision reduction team is to reduce deaths and injuries on the roads of South Wales.
Making South Wales a safer place to live, work and visit.
To achieve this the road traffic collision reduction team works in partnership with other road safety professionals.
The Welsh Assembly road safety strategy published three casualty reduction targets. From a baseline of the average number of casualties between 1994 and 1998, the targets to be achieved by 2010 are:
40% reduction in the total number of Killed or Seriously Injured (KSI) casualties
50% reduction in the total number of child Killed or Seriously Injured (KSI) casualties
10% reduction in the rate of slightly injured casualties per 100 million kilometres travelled
South Wales Fire & Rescue Service has demonstrated its commitment to achieving the national road safety targets, by the introduction of the Road Traffic Collision Reduction Team.
